Celphos Fumigation Tablets
Celphos fumigation tablets contain Aluminium Phosphide (57% w/w) as their active ingredient and are used to control stored-product pests, insects, mites, and rodents in grain silos, warehouses, shipping containers, and bagged stacks. This may include Weevils, Cilo Fumigation, Fumigation of Export Products, and Bed Bugs, among others.

How Celphos Fumigation Tablets Work
• Active Ingredient: Aluminium Phosphide (3g per tablet).
• Mechanism: When exposed to atmospheric or ambient moisture, the tablets react to release toxic phosphine gas (PH₃).
• Spectrum: The gas penetrates deeply into grain heaps, sacks, and enclosed spaces, killing pests at all life stages (eggs, larvae, pupae, and adults).
Celphos Fumigant Dosage and Application Rates
Here is a fast breakdown of the use of Celphos fumigation tablets for those who love a DIY stored-product pest control or grain fumigation option.
• For bulk grain in silos or large vertical storage, use 2–4 tablets (3g each) per metric tonne.
• For bulk grain or raw commodities in flat storage / bagged stacks, use 3–5 tablets per metric tonne.
• For space fumigation (packaged foods, non-food items under gas-tight covers), use 1–1.5 tablets per cubic metre.

Celphos Fumigant Safety and Regulations in Kenya
- Restricted Product: Classified as a WHO Class A / restricted-use product in Kenya and regulated under the Pest Control Products Board (PCPB).
- Handling: Must only be applied by trained and licensed pest control operators (PCOs).
- Toxicity: Phosphine gas is lethal to humans and animals upon inhalation. Never expose the tablets directly to liquid water or open fire, as this can trigger a dangerous chemical reaction or combustion.
- Ventilation: Treated areas require thorough airing and ventilation (typically several days depending on exposure time and temperature) before re-entry.

Celphos Insecticide Fumigant Tablets MSDS
Because of the high toxicity and the dangers associated with the Celphos Fumigation Tablets, it’s very crucial to follow the Celphos Manufacturer Manual.
Anyway, celphos is an alternative permanent fumigant or Insecticide for bedbugs; when applied well, it offers a longer-lasting solution than using Liquid Pest Control Chemicals. You may consider Phostoxin Fumigation Tablets or Quickphos Fumigant as an alternative.
